Draw Everyday!

108 posts in this topic

"If you draw that rose 100 times, one of those roses will look right."

The anxiety and worries of creating good art is always feared in every beginner, and even expert, artists.

There's not much to fear, as it's mostly, majority, all of it is skill, study, and practice. The talent aspect of it has such a minimal impact and only comes to terms when identifying something to create.

Draw every day, learn, progress, continue to learn.

"To seize to learn is to stop growing, to stop growing is to only age. To age is to rot, and then, nothing."

I will be posting excerpts from my sketchbook of work everyday here.

I'll be taking requests as well, sfw and nsfw, to keep the concept of challenge.

- I don't do digital art. I do traditional medias, most familiar with:

- Graphite or colored marking tools.

- Painting with watercolour!

- Etching/Cross Hatching

- Pen and Ink

I started drawing every day, not formally though. Just, at work, I try to write a page and draw on a page each day. They're small, maybe four inches by eight, but it keeps me busy and active.

Requests can be freely posted, the more visual the reference the better.

Always productive! Any little bit makes you better than you were before.

Flipped through the sketchbook and decided to choose a few fun ones to complete.

Hooray.

Ooh nice. I'll gladly hop on this bandwagon. Soon as I get a halfway decent something done, I've got an idea.

You've got some great line-control. The fish and sea turtles are particularly nice. What kinda materials are you using?

I had someone earlier say "That squirrel looks like it's about to become the next Hokage."

I use Microns for pens, or Fabers if the art store is sold out.

I usually just use a weight of 8 and 3. Fat lines matter.

For my colored sketches I use erasable Prismacolors.

Then graphite I just use a .5 Zebra mechanical pencil.

As far as sketchbook paper I think it's cold pressed and textured, but my tracing paper I dunno what I use, it's just a big tube roll of it.

Yeah, if you're not already making prints or doing tattoos, you should look into it. You've got some solid work!

Oh thanks! I considered it once before but it's quite tricky to get started with!

Yeah, it was a pretty weird day for me. Upside down mountains, a bowl, razor. Just shapes I saw and slapped together.

I've really been interested in starting to make screen prints and lino cuts! (Probably butchered the spelling.) Tattooing sounds great but it's definitely a tougher craft to get into than just art. Where I live there are only Flash Tattooers and all the Custom Tattoo shops already have an apprentice! So I guess the hardest part is just getting started. It's super illegal to tattoo out of the house!

You've got some sweet stuff. Would you mind if I wrote daily short stories about what you've drawn? I'd credit you the inspiration, of course.

Thank you! I think that's okay to do, I'm honored to have someone interested in doing so!

It's messy because I don't have the best pens for drawing over pencil or tracing paper...but here ya go X3. I suppose it could be considered concept art for a mod I'm making;large.58bf281553322_CreeperRepellent.jpeg.8ab103227e1bf9bdda97ff5fc2aebe61.jpeg

This is so cool! Has a Titanfall inspired feel to it! You don't need expensive drawing utensils to do a great job.

You're right on the mess, but it's still very well done to get the image across and everything on there is clean and well translated.

A helpful tip to help with smudging -- try using a clean paper towel or bandana to rest your hand on while you draw. When your eraser has collected too much graphite and has just become a smudge tool, rub it on your pants or something abrasive you don't mind getting a bit messy.

Keep it up! Can't wait to see your next post.

Thank you. And yes. you nailed it. that's exactly where the inspiration for this mod came from. Hehehe...who needs and Ocelot when you have a minigun to keep Creepers at bay >:D. Just getting the basis of this done and this drawing is the first tier of hard suit you can obtain. Enough on that though.

Thank you very much for the advice on how to avoid this kind of smudging, I'll take it to heart in the future.

Well thanks. I drew him because I'm tired of Viking helmets with horns, and channeled that rage into him
